Michelle Bowden: Shelley's Childminding Service

My name is Michelle but children usually call me Shelley. I live with my husband Tom, 3 sons, Harry, Oliver and Edward.

We also have a little Cavachon named Rusty. We all live in a 3 bed semi-detached house. The back garden is a good size and has been re-designed with childminding in mind. We have a long drive for parents to park on plus there is ample space to park in the avenue. We close the gates during the day for the children to play on the cars/bikes.

I am a Quality Assured Network Childminder and can offer free early education and childcare places for 2, 3 and 4 year old's. I have an NNEB in Childhood Studies and a diploma in Child Psychology.  I have been a childminder for nearly 6 years.

In the past I have been employed as a carer for children and young adults with severe disabilities. Within that job I gained many different skills such as tube/peg feeding, caring of the tracheotomy and care of the colostomy bag.  Prior to that job I worked as a nanny for a various different families, for around 10 years. Working with children has always been a pleasure to me and therefore now I am a mum, childminding seems the most natural step to take in my career. 

Over the past 2 years I have employed an assistant Kirsty. Kirsty has completed an NVQ2 in Childhood Studies while being with me & is currently doing her NVQ 3.
