SEND Transport

Got your school / college place? Great, now how do you get there?  If you are of compulsory school age (5-16) and not within the statutory walking distance to school (up to 2 miles if under 8 years of age, up to 3 miles if over 8 years of age), you may be entitled to free home to school travel.

Do you have additional needs and require support to get to school / college? Then you may be entitled to free travel support.

Are you aged between 0-25 and would like to access information on what travel support you may be entitled to?

As part of the recent SEND Reforms, Stockport Council has revised their home to school and Post 16 travel assistance policies. Here you will find all the information that you require regarding free travel / travel assistance for eligible students.

We have also provided links for all young people to access information regarding travelling by public transport in the region.

Post 16 Students: Post 16 students, who have an EHC Plan and need support to get to school or college, may be eligible for  travel support. For further information on bus passes, travel training, personal budgets or supported transport, please call the Travel Coordination Service on 0161 474 2504. Please note, travel support to students over 16 may incur a charge.
