If you or your child has a physical impairment life can sometimes be made easier with the use of certain aids, equipment and/or adaptations.
Having the right equipment can also enhance a child’s/young person’s ability to become more independent and help ease the process of transition into adulthood.
In Stockport Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists may assess a need for provision of equipment to support motor, sensory or communication difficulties.
Equipment may be need in the home and/or at school.
All equipment requests whether for education or home are reviewed by a panel of health and local authority workers to ensure any equipment provided is necessary and appropriate.
For some equipment which is not funded by Health or local authority there is a small loan bank of sensory equipment so families can try before they buy.
