In Stockport, the Local Authority has been working with its partners and parent/carer representatives to implement the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice which became a statutory requirement in September 2014.
The Early Years Project Group has been exploring existing practice and agreed some improvements which aim to ensure that children who have or may have Special Educational Needs, are identified and supported at the earliest opportunity and that services are more integrated in their approach to supporting children with additional needs and their families. There are different types of childcare providers available which may be suitable for your child such as childminders, nurseries and pre-schools; some offer sessions and some offer full daycare.
If your child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or on an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan and is 2 years old, you will be eligible for 15 hours of FREE childcare. This is also available to ALL children aged 3 and 4 years.
All providers are registered and inspected by OFSTED and follow the requirements of Early Years Foundation Stage, this includes meeting the needs of the unique child and offering an inclusive environment.
