When a child joins Daisybank we have a settling in document which the parent completes and this will give us background information on the child and his/her routines, likes/dislikes, eating, sleeping etc. Our settling in policy is complimentary to our settling in document. We realise that each child is unique and there may be varying lengths of settling in sessions.
- To help children prepare for their transition to school, activities in the pre-school room are designed to reflect this process.
- Daisybank will endeavour to build links with the schools the children are going to.
A copy of the child's Learning Journey and any relevant information will be passed onto their new school.
Key persons observe children daily engaging in a variety of activities. Key persons and the manager are available at any time to discuss concerns. We respond to children’s needs on an individual basis and we are able to access support or advice from the Early Years Team.
We currently have a ramp for easy access up the steps into nursery; doors are extra wide and able to accommodate wheelchairs if necessary. All activities are carried out on the ground floor and easily accessible.
Parents are consulted frequently at drop off and collection times and the manager is available at all times by telephone or email. We have a closed group Facebook page so parents can see some of the things their children are doing on a daily basis, and parents can also leave feedback comments. Meetings are often held outside nursery hours either at nursery premises or at parent’s homes.
We have 2 qualified child psychologists and a music therapist on the staff team, and have the use of external specialists (physiotherapist).
On occasions we have worked with Portage, physiotherapists, reflexologist.
Parents are aware of our weekly planning for each room at nursery, and we discuss what their children are doing day by day so they can reinforce work done at nursery and develop further.
