Local Offer
- Description
When children join our nursery we strive to make their settling in process as easy and enjoyable as possible for both the parents and their child. We offer several settling in sessions. Providing parents and carers with the opportunity to watch their child play happily and explore their new environment. During these settling in sessions parents are provided with a learning journey passport which allows them to put details such as their child’s interests and the routine they are in at home.
When children are ready to take the big step from nursery to school, Teachers are welcomed into our setting to see the children and to speak to members of staff about each child’s achievements during their time in our care. Once parents have viewed their child’s report a copy of this will get forwarded onto their new school.
Observations are done on a daily basis enabling us to complete termly tracking. This is a review that shows each child’s stage of development. Once this is done individual reports are put together and shared with parents at arranged parents evenings. We also use this time to talk about what next steps we have put in place to support their child’s learning and development.
We work closely with parents to allow them to share their concerns, thoughts and feelings about their child’s development. We work well with outside agencies enabling us to share relevant information with the appropriate agencies to give our children the very best start in life.
We are fully and are happy to make any changes needed to help new families settle into our setting. We display several language signs around the building for those with English as an additional language as well as dual language reading books and language books created by ourselves to work alongside our parents and carers. Staff also take the time to learn simple words from these languages to help build better relationships with our families.
We are a fully wheelchair accessible setting enabling those with limited mobility to be able to find their way around. We have a lift for the lower ground floor and upper floor levels. We have fully trained staff to support each child’s individual needs, for example, we have behaviour specialists, to aid those with challenging and disruptive behaviour and work towards a more positive approach to play and learning. Sign language is also used for those that have speech or hearing impairments.
As a setting we are committed to ensuring all our staff have the knowledge and understanding needed to be able to support one another when caring for and supporting children with additional needs. We have a designated SENCO who along with many other responsibilities will support all staff members in identifying and meeting the additional needs of children in our setting.
All our staff are fully qualified to level 3 or above and the owner of Little Giggles is a fully qualified paediatric first aid instructor and is currently ensuring all staff employed by Little Giggles are fully trained and knowledgeable in first aid.
Within our team we have 3 safeguarding officers, a behaviour management officer, staff who are trained in SENCO, Manual handling, peg training and trained to deliver basic sign language. All staff are keen to under-go any training available to help further their own development whether it’s through online courses or attending outside training. All staff are aware of outside agencies that are available to support us and know exactly where to find their contact details, this may be a member of the speech and language team, behaviour support, portage service the EYFS Improvement team this is just to name a few.
As a setting we have 3 specialisms
- A fully qualified first aid instructor/assessor
- Wiggles and giggles
- Pre-school early readers club/Library
Our specialisms status enables us to enhance the learning experiences for the children in our care and provide them with a wide range of opportunities;
As a setting we are proud to announce that the owner of little giggles private day nursery has officially completed the Paediatric first aid Instructor and assessor course which as a setting we ensure that all our staff are trained in paediatric first aid and this is now part of our induction when employing new staff.
Wiggles and giggles dance classes are not only a great experience for all children but a great way to enhance their physical development and social interaction skills but most of all to have fun.
Our pre-school early readers club is held in the library based on the lower ground floor and is used to promote early reading for all children aged 3-5, preparing them for their new journey at school as well as helping to gain a basic understanding of phonics
