Volunteering (14-25)

Young people are now required to stay in education and/or training until their 18th birthday.  You can fulfil this requirement by undertaking 20 or more hours per week of volunteering, as long as you combine this with some form of part-time education or training.

Volunteering is defined as working without financial reward, for example for a charity, cause or organisation you care about. It’s a great way to learn and develop skills however old you are, and gives you the opportunity to meet new people and give back to your community. Employers often look favourably on voluntary experience, and it may help you secure a job you want in the future.
