Kids Planet Adswood
Kids Planet Adswood is based in the Abacus Children’s Centre and opened in August 2018.
Local to Cale Green park, the library, train station and shops, the well-resourced nursery has four spacious playrooms which has access to sensory rooms situated in the Children’s centre.
Each child within the nursery will have a key person, who will ensure that their individual needs are met by our fully qualified team of caring staff. We pride ourselves on providing a happy and safe environment where children feel both special and unique.
Our aim is to provide the very best nurturing Early Years education and care for each and every child.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a framework to encourage purposeful plays and lots of hands-on-activities to promote individual learning.
Our aim is to create a strong partnership with the children, parents / carers and nursery who work together to inspire your world.
All of our meals are freshly prepared by our qualified chef.
Children’s dietary requirements are catered for and in terms of weaning, we will support you and your child through this process.
We are open Monday to Friday 7:30am – 6:30pm, 52 weeks of the year excluding Bank Holidays.
We accept the 2, 3 and 4 year old funding, including the 30 hours.

The SEN coordinator for Kids Planet Day Nursery Adwood is Beth Breddy Nursery Manager.
We are committed to providing a childcare place, wherever possible, for children who may have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities according to their individual circumstances, and the nursery’s ability to make any reasonable adjustments in order to provide the necessary standard of care.
From home to setting we have a settling in procedure which allows parents/carers to discuss their child’s individual needs. This process is flexible and can be extended until the child feel supported and settled.
If a child is transitioning from/to another setting the SENCO/ Key person would be responsible for liaising with them to support a smooth handover and share relevant information regarding support, stage of development and input from other services.
Each of our children is assigned a key person who is responsible for monitoring and reviewing their individual needs enabling early identification and facilitates early intervention.
The key person would liaise with the SENCO to ensure that referrals are made as required/parent, other professional are involved.
Children with an identified SEN would be created an individual play plan which would be reviewed on a regular basis by the SENCO and updated as required by the key person with input from services involved. Parents would be kept up to date with their child’s progress at regular reviews and given a copy of the plan and support for learning at home.
Each child’s individual circumstances would be discussed with the Nursery Manager and SENCO, every effort would be made to support as required.
Kids Planet members of staff are trained in SEN needs and how children can be supported in Stockport (The EYFS Pathway). We strive to ensure that not only does the SENCO receive training and updates where a specific need is identified, all staff will attend relevant training by the appropriate professional, for example - Cerebral Palsy and an Occupational Therapist.
Kids Planet Adswood nursery is allocated in Abacus Children Centre in Adswood, the benefits are that we work in partnership with other external services based in the same building, for example health visiting team, children’s services and family support workers.
