Adult Education post 19

Adult learning has for a long time been a great option for anyone who wants to gain confidence and learn new things. The Continuing Education Service offers a wide range of courses including English, maths, and IT. There are also a number of foundation skills courses that will help you gain an understanding of the skills you may need to work in a particular job including hospitality and customer service, early years,  and office skills. Most course are nationally accredited and where not a certificate of achievement is provided by the Service.  Courses are also available at levels 2 and 3 for Teaching Assistants with many learners going on to find work in schools.

If your first language is not English there are a full range of courses from pre-entry level to level 2. For new English language speakers there are a number of courses to help you be more confident in speaking including ‘Cook and Chat’ and ‘Sew and Chat’.

These  courses are supported by specialist tutors who will help you be more confident.

For learners who need additional help with their learning there are a team of Support Workers who will provide one to one or support in a group setting.

Courses are available for anyone aged 19 on or by the 1st August in an academic year. Most courses are free and assistance may be available for eligible learners to support the cost of their travel and childcare.
