The Learning Support Service is a specialist teaching service that provides support and advice to all mainstream schools in Stockport. In partnership with schools, parents and other agencies, the Service meets the needs of young people with general, specific and complex learning difficulties.
We help children and young people with a range of learning difficulties who are taught and supported in a variety of inclusive settings. The Learning Support Service helps schools to support the needs of these young people by offering advice and teaching support through intensive individual sessions and small group work.
Following a period of in-school support and in consultation with parents, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) in school refers pupils to the Service if they feel they will meet criteria for, and benefit from, additional teaching support.
