FASD Greater Manchester

FASD Greater Manchester is a Support Group for families affected by FASD in Greater Manchester and surrounding areas. We run a support group in Stockport and meet for coffee mornings, workshops and family events like the summer Brain Base which we run alongside NOFAS UK.

Making Change happen:  Raising awareness and knowledge of knowledge of FASD is very important to us, we have a group of parent/carers who are working with a variety of partners. We meet with Stockport Clinical Commission Group (CCG) and Stockport Healthy Young Minds (HYMS) to improve and develop services for FASD.

We also work with Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership on their Alcohol Exposed Pregnancies Campaign – Drymester, you can find out more at www.drymester.org.uk

Other work includes working with Salford University who currently have two grants, one to look at the prevalence of FASD and one to develop an intervention for children diagnosed with FASD.

There are lots of developments happening now and this will continue to gain in momentum as the NICE quality standards work begins.

FASD Greater Manchester are registered stakeholders in this very important move forward for FASD. www.nice.org.uk/guidance/indevelopment/gid-qs10139
