If your child has recently been diagnosed with autism at HYMS, the case manager will send a copy of the ADOS (Autistic Diagnostic Observation Schedule) direct to the Autism team. The team will then arrange an ADAPT (After Diagnosis Autism Planning Team) meeting at your child's school.
If your child already has a diagnosis of autism and you want to make a referral to this service, contact your school SENCo to complete an EHA and notify the autism team of this request.
Following the referral, parents/carers are invited to attend a compulsory autism awareness course. The course is 2.5 hours in duration, day time and evening course are available (there is no waiting).
At the end of the autism awareness course, parents/carers will complete an assessment of need form explaining the current difficulties at home and school. The team will then create a bespoke intervention package.
