Working with families
We use an online journal and parents are encouraged to contribute their own observations to create a loop of information and a shared understanding of their child. We can also provide key persons or extended family with their own unique log-in to the child's journal if parents would like this.
Transitions
Before a child begins at our setting, we offer a couple of settling-in sessions (around 4 hours in total) where we work with the children and their families to find out about needs, interests and the developmental stage of the child. We are happy to offer home visits to support any child in settling-in. We recommend families share the information we build up on a child's development with any other settings the child attends. Over time, the e-journal builds up a thorough picture of the child and parents can share this when the child moves on to school.
Additional needs and adjustments
Children's needs are identified by an ongoing process of working with children, their families and any involved professionals. Each of the adults working with children in the setting have undertaken training in how to work with families to access external support on behalf of children and their families.We are committed to being an equal opportunities setting and making reasonable adjustments to our setting and ways of practice.
