Supported Internships
Supported Internships are a programme for young people aged 16-24 who have an Education, Health & Care Plan who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so.
Internships provide a structured study programme based with an employer and are tailored to the individual needs of the young person. You will receive on-the-job training and support, with the aim to help you achieve the skills needed for workplace so you can go on to find paid employment. Supported internships normally last for a year, with unpaid work placements over a period of at least 6 months.
Stockport Council currently run a supported internship programme in partnership with Aquinas College.
