Local Offer

Description
  • We are a family run traditional nursery. We form strong parent partnerships and enjoy getting to know the whole family. We encourage parents and carers to call the nursery at any point throughout the day to see how their children are doing
  • We will assign your child a key person when they start. This will offer your child reassurance and your key person will keep all of your child's observations and records up to date. If your key person identifies a particular need, the matter will be discussed with you and further support will be planned.
  • Children and families have settling in sessions in which key information is shared, all about me forms are filled in as well as starting points alongside the EYFS.
  • Information is shared through daily handovers as well as meetings and regular parents evenings.
  • We provide a balance of child initiated and adult led activities to promote learning and development.
  • Children’s learning journeys are available for parents to view at any time, and are shared with parents and Key person’s at parents evenings
  • When children are moving on to school, we meet with the Teachers from different schools to share children’s transition information, such as learning journeys, tracking and information about their interests etc.
  • We have worked with other agencies such as Speech & Language therapists, Education Psychologists and Physiotherapists to meet each child's individual needs.
  • Where possible and appropriate we access training for staff, to meet the individual needs of children in our care.
  • Observation and assessment is on-going for your child and linked to the Development matters, ages and stages of development. This assessment tool will help us identify any needs for children. When appropriate these observations will be discussed with relevant parties. 
  • We complete tracking three times a year and analyse the results to document how we are moving forward with the children's learning and development.
  • Stacey Wint is our SENCO. Stacey liaises with external agencies to seek advice to get the best possible outcomes for the children. 
  • Reports from other professionals will be included for individual children’s development targets. 
  • Any children with a Special Educational Need will be given equal opportunities. Regular meetings will be held with the SENCO, Key persons and mums, dads and carers to discuss children’s individual needs. 
  • Medication can be administered where there is need, medication forms are signed when the child is collected from nursery. For long term medication we have continuous medication forms which will also be signed at the end of each day.
  • Most staff members are trained in WellComm which is a great tool to support communication and language development.
  • The setting is accessible for wheelchair users, with a view of enabling all children and adults that may use any mobility equipment. 
  • Changing facilities are accessible for all and are based in separate changing areas.
  • Children’s toilets are of a reasonable height for children to use.
  • We have a member of staff on site who speaks Hindi and Punjabi and some staff have been trained in baby sign to encourage communication throughout the nursery.
  • The setting will endeavour to communicate with parents who do have English as an additional language, through a range of tailored approaches. We can text, email, use Google translation services, provide written information which can later be translated, staff that have additional languages can interpret, and friends or family of the child can assist the family at meetings or through daily collections. 
  • We use visual aids and seek advice from the area SENCO if extra support is needed for improvements.
  • Staff have been on various training courses such as Equality, diversity and inclusion, Communication and Language, behaviour management, effective teaching and learning, gender differences and learning styles, aiming high in the EYFS, motivating boys to learn and many more.
  • We have an outdoor mud kitchen to support children's expressive arts and design techniques and creativity skills.
