Elm Road Pre School
Elm Road Pre-School, has been part of the Gatley community for over 50 years. Opening first as a playgroup in 1970 and then registering with OFSTED to become the Pre-School that we are today.
We are based in a bright, clean and modern building, recently refurbished in the heart of Gatley village.
We are open 9-12, Monday to Friday, term time only. In addition to this, we can provide wrap-around care for Children attending Gatley Primary Nursery in the afternoon.
Our Pre-School cares for Children from the age of 2, up until the age they start reception class. (Places for 2 year olds are subject to availability).
We are experienced, mature staff, who are highly qualified at guiding development and ensuring your child in giving the best care possible. All staff have a full knowledge of the EYFS framework. We also have a Qualified Primary School Teacher and a designated SENCO.
In April 2018, OFSTED judged our provisions as ‘Good’.
We have extensive premises, including a large hall and a safe, secure and stimulating outdoor area. We allow the children to experiment, discover, experience, learn and have fun doing it!

Elm Road Pre-school supports transitions from home to pre-school by having open days for parent/child to gain an insight into the setting.
We support transitions into school by inviting these schools into our setting prior to the children moving up.
All children are allocated a key-worker who will complete an initial assessment when each child has been with us for a period of time. Each term, on going observations are recorded, this will highlight any concerns that may arise with the child’s development. Staff are always available to discuss any concerns parents may have.
We support all children’s individual needs and where necessary will give one to one support to build on what the child already knows, with the support of the designated SENCO.
All Parents have a daily opportunity to speak to a member of staff or setting manager to discuss any issues they may have. Twice a year parents are invited to attend a child review where they can look through their child’s work folder and discuss their child’s progress, any concerns will be developed into an action plan.
All staff have a full knowledge of the EYFS framework. Attendance on external training courses is encouraged. In house training/sharing good practice, on a regular basis. We also have a designated SENCO.
We have had experience of working with outside agencies when required.
