E Learning: Council for Disabled Children

The Council for Disabled Children are pleased to announce the launch of four new e-Learning training modules for Independent Supporters, IASS staff, local authority staff and other key practitioners.

These Training Modules are aiming at anyone working with families and young people across Local Authority and Health Services.

The modules are free to access and cover:

  • Personalisation and personal budgets
  • Children and young people with special educational needs who are detained in youth custody
  • Mental capacity
  • Preparing young people for adulthood.

In them, you will learn in detail about new legal entitlements and duties, but also about best practice approaches and more.

In order to take part in these Training Modules, you will first need to complete and pass the online Independent Support Training, then attend face to face training workshops.

The online Independent Support training covers two areas;

  • Legal training
  • The Role of the Independent Supporter training.

It will take up to two days to complete and it is important that participants complete and pass the online training before attending face to face training.

Once you have logged in you will be asked to complete learning modules in Legal training and Role of the Independent Supporter training. In order to pass the assessments you will need to achieve a score of 70%. You will have three attempts to complete each assessment. If you are unsuccessful, please await an email from the Council for Disabled children to inform you when you will be able to take the assessment again.

To start the training, please register on the CDC training site.
