Welcome to Nursery
The Foundation Stage team provide all learners with a safe, positive and vibrant environment, through which they can imagine, create and explore experiences and opportunities. We will nurture and support children in becoming happy, confident and resilient learners. The transition to Nursery whether it be from home, child minder or playgroup is extremely important and we aim to make this transition as smooth and as enjoyable as possible for all children. We do this by holding open evenings, taster sessions and offering home visits. Our staff are friendly, approachable and passionate about what we do and strive for our children to be the best that they can be.
Learning in Nursery
In Nursery, play is at the heart of our learning. Our skilled staff plan and organise the environment to ensure that learners have opportunities to develop all of their skills. Topics are carefully selected to ensure that learners are provided with exciting and stimulating experiences that they can access both indoors and outdoors. Learners also have small key group sessions throughout the day. The focus of these key groups are; phonics - exploring Phase One Letters and Sounds, story box sessions which immerse learners in the story upon which our topic is based, Tales Toolkit – developing learners story telling skills and experiences linked to our topic. We maximise our time in Nursery by enabling learning at every opportunity. We teach Maths through our snack in Nursery by putting number and space, shape and measures into real-life contexts.
